The last week of 2016 was jam packed with new experiences and the beginning of 2017 was no different. Waking up in a foreign country was a bit surreal, but we continued on our journey with a day spent with family I never knew I had. We hung out like the locals and got a taste of some home cooked meals.
Hanoi holds a special place in my memory. It was where I celebrated the end of 2016 and turned a new leaf in 2017. It was quite an experience and felt a bit surreal to be out of my comfort zone, but I wouldn't have traded the new friendships or the time I spent with family members I met for the first time.
This trip has been on the back burner for what seemed like 10 years in the making, but 2016 became the year I finally traveled to the country my parents called home until they emigrated to the US. My parents were thrilled to share their childhood memories with my brother and I as we, the Nguyen fams, learned and rediscovered the charms of our ancestral lands. This recap also took me a year in the making, but it's finally here!
The last leg of the journey is upon us and although we didn't have a concrete itinerary planned out, we managed to get through a lot for the day. From viewing the city from above in Mount Royal to exploring Old Montreal, we passed through several landmarks. And we definitely didn't skip out on food either!
And we're back at it again! Another day, another adventure. Weather has been hot and humidity in Montreal was no joke, but we were out the door around 10AM to head out to Mile End for some bagel tasting and shopping.
Second day into Montreal and luck was on our side for this trip. Sunday was free museum day for select exhibits, so we spent the whole day hitting up a few locations. After breakfast, we set foot toward Musee des Beaux Arts de Montreal, where we ended up spending half our day exploring.
From San Diego to Detroit to Montreal, we touched down in Canada about 8-9 hours later. From the airport, we hopped on a bus and went through the subway system to reach Jean-Talon, where we checked into our Airbnb for the next 5 days. As with all new adventures, the exploration begins.
With half a day left in Boston, we had a few places on our hit list before we headed to the airport. We woke up to another day of snowy forecast, but that didn't stop us from making the most of our time here. Last day in Boston, but there's still plenty of things to do and see.
